River Ready

Are you River Ready?

The River Ready Program is a hands-on, introductory river safety experience designed to teach youth ages 10-14 the fundamentals of safe movement in and around moving water. Participants will learn essential safety skills, basic rescue awareness, and beginner bodyboarding and swimming techniques in a fun, supportive environment.

What to Expect.

  • Build awareness of river hazards and safety practices

  • Develop confidence in moving water

  • Teach proper use of personal safety equipment (PFDs, helmets)

  • Introduce basic self-rescue and swimming techniques

  • Promote responsible recreation and teamwork

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Properly fit and check a life jacket (PFD)

  • Identify key river hazards (rocks, strainers, currents)

  • Demonstrate defensive and aggressive swimming positions

  • Perform basic self-rescue techniques

  • Show safe behavior and communication in a river setting

  • Demonstrate introductory bodyboarding skills

Who Should Attend.

This program is designed for kids ages 10-14 who do not have whitewater experience.
